Act early if you notice clicking from a hard drive, burning smells, a swollen laptop battery, repeated blue-screen errors, frequent overheating or a charging cable that only works at a particular angle. Continued use can turn a contained repair into damage to other components or a loss of important files.
Avoid opening a laptop if you are unsure about the battery, internal clips or screws. Modern laptops are compact, and forcing the wrong panel can damage a keyboard, ribbon cable or chassis.
